The museum’s summer exhibition is *Ääi´j mie´ldd/ Through Time*, which allows visitors to experience how land use and the natural landscape in The Skolt Saami village have changed. It features pairs of images combining historical photos—dating from around 1900 into the 2000s—with photos taken at the same locations in 2025. The photographer is Oskar Puschmann, and the re-photography project is part of the “Selected Cultural Landscapes” scheme.
Temporary Exhibition”Ääi´j mie´ldd / Through Time”
The exhibition consists of 26 before-and-after photographs that illustrate changes in the landscape. These “historical photo pairs” document the historical development of the landscape. Each pair spans a certain period of time and shows changes over either a long or a shorter timeframe. They provide insight into history, raise awareness of changes in land use, farming practices, and living conditions, and visually convey stories about what has been and where we are heading.
The new photographs were taken in the summer of 2025 by landscape geographer and photographer Oskar Puschmann of the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomical Research (NIBIO).
