The Savio Museum
The Savio Museum is an art museum dedicated to the Sami artist John Andreas Savio. The main goal of the Savio Museum is to research, document, disseminate and preserve John A. Savio’s art and life story. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on other Sami art, including older Sami art, duodji and visual expressions, as well as reference works of indigenous art and handicrafts. The museum is temporarily located at the Borderland Museum (Grenselandmuset) in Kirkenes and manages the largest collection of John A. Savio’s art.
The Savio Museum conducts extensive dissemination aimed at primary and lower secondary schools locally and regionally, and cooperates with institutions and associations within and outside the borders of Norway.
